Sam lived in several cities as a child, including Austin, Waco, and Dallas. In the 6th grade, he and his mother moved to Stamford, Texas and then 2 years later to Abilene. In 1960 they moved to Oklahoma City where he graduated from Harding High School. He was active in sports and played on the State Runner-up football team his senior year. Following high school graduation, he spent one year at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA and then cmpleted his degree in Electrical Engineering at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas. After graduation, he was employed by Collins Radio Company of Dallas, TX for 5 years. In November of 1972, he went to work for Motorola and moved to Georgia.
~ His address in Georgia was 2975 Forestside Lane, College Park, GA. In 1976, he transfered back to Dallas, TX and has been there ever since.
