- !BIRTH: Per Family Group Sheet of Wilma Hedge, David was born 23 Mar 1770.
However, the bible record of William Montgomery, apparently a brother, shows a
birth date of 12 July 1775.
!MARRIAGE: Copy of Marriage License from Blount County (TN) Clerk's office in
possession of John C. Montgomery. There is considerable doubt as the last name
of the bride since it is spelled at least 3 different ways in various places.
The actual marriage license is impossible to read anymore on the inside
although it looks like Margate Mc(?). The name Margaret McCorete is written on
the outside. In some other places the name is shown as Margaret
McCameron. However, based on tax records and other official records, there were
no McCoretes or McCamerons in Blount County in the early years. However, there
were several McCammon families in the Bakers Creek area and there were other
marriages between the Montgomery & McCammon families. Mrs. Edith Little, a DAR
historian in Maryville, has listed the name as Margate McCammon in her book, &
this is believed to be the most likely spelling.
