BIOGRAPHY:
According to a conversation that I had with his sister Florine in 1987, Lee went
to California with a friend who planned to work out there. He liked Los
Angeles, so he stayed, and eventually his sisters followed him out there to
work. I have an article from
the Haskell Free Press dated August 4, 1939 that seems to confirm this story:
"Buford Gholson, Lee Stodgill, and Bob Malone left Wednesday morning for Los
Angeles where Mr. Gholson plans to enter engineering school."
While in the service during WW II, Lee visited my family at our Haskell
County TX farm and we visited with his family in Los Angeles during family
trips to California in 1947 and 1955.
