Genealogical History of the Family of Montgomery
[VIII] William Talvas Montgomerie
-
Notes - !BIRTH: He was passionately fond of hunting, and found the forests of Anjou too
bare to harbor game in sufficient quantity. He therefore ordered his foresters
to plant broom to thicken the cover. He always wore a sprig of broom in his
helm or his cap. Plantagenet means planter of broom, thus was born one of the
most famous surnames in the world. He also had another nickname-"TheHandsome."
