- !BIRTH-DEATH: In the early fall of 1776 the invasion of GA by the British
General Prevost caused the American Colonists to raise forces for thedefense
of the southern colonies. A Brigade of militia was raised and mobilized at
Charlotte, NC, engaged to serve for six months to GA and SC. There is
preserved the affidavit of Pleasant Henderson of Granville, NC (NCrecords,
vol. 2, p.129) that he served in this force as Lieutenant under Capt.Richard
Lewis of Granville in the regiment of Col, James Landis.
