In the name of God Amen, I Mary Maclin, Late Relict of William Mattoxdeced,
of Brunswick County and parish of Saint Andrew, being sick of body butsound and
perfect memory, Thanks be to God for the same, and calling to mind the
uncertain Estate of this Transitory life and that all Flesh must Yieldunto
Death when it shall please God to call me do make and Constitute andordain
this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following.
First I recommend my soul to God Hoping that through the Merits of mysavior
Jesus Christ to have full Remission for my sins and to Inheriteverlasting life
and as to my body I commit it to the earth from whence it came to bedecently
enter'd at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named and as for what
Temporal Estate it hath pleased God to bless me with I give and Disposeof the
same in Manner following.
Item. I give unto my son William Mattox one shilling sterling.
Item. I give to John Harrison my son in Law one shilling sterling.
Item. I give unto my daughter Prudence Simmons thirty shillings and tomy
Grand Daughter Tabitha Simmons one gold ring with thie posey, "the love Iowe I
cannot show."
Item. I give and Bequeath unto my Grand Daughter Pricilla Lloyd oneNegro
Man slave Named Jemmy to her and her heirs forever.
Item. I give to my grand Daughters Elizabeth and Blanch Harrison thirty
shillings each to be paid when they become of age or Married.
Item. I give to my grandson William House four head of Cattle.
Item. I give unto my Daughter Mary House one feather bed and bolsterand
pillows and two Pilow Cases, a pair of Doras sheets, one pair of NineQuarter
Blankets, one Nine Quarter red rugg, a set of large Curtains and battinsa Hide
with the Bedstead and Cord, Fifty shillings Current Money.
Item. I give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah Loyd all my wearing
Apparel, one side sadle, one large Chest with a lock and key, one smallGuilded
trunk with a Lock and key, one four gallon Iron pott and hooks. And Ialso
give to my said Daughter Sarah the Labour of one Negro Man slave namedJemmy
until her daughter Precilla be of Age or married I also give to my said
Daughter Sarah three new deep Dishes, one new Bason and six new pewterplates.
Item. I give all the Remainer part of my Money when the Charges ofproving
my (will) is paid and Legacies taken out to be equally Divided Between mytwo
Daughters Mary house and Sarah Loyd.
Item. I do hereby ordain Constitute and appoint my well beloved son inLaw,
Issac House, Exr. of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoaking all
other Wills by me heretofore made and this only is to be taken for mylast Will
and Testament.
In Witness wherof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourth dayof

Maclin in presence of: John Maclin, Thomas Brooks, M. Cadet Young
At a Court held for Brunswick County February the 5th 1746. this Willwas
presented in Court by Isaac House the Executor therin named who made Oath
therto according to Law and the same was proved by the oaths of JohnMaclin and
Michael Cadet Young two of the Witnesses therto and order'd to berecorded and
on the motion of the said Exer Certificate was granted him for obtaining a
probat in due form he having given security as the Law directs.-Test Ster:
Clack, Clerk Court. (copied as was printed in Kinfolks)..It is alsostated
that the Jhn Maclin that witnessed this must have been the son of William.
