Notes - Born and raised in West Virginia. Quit school at fourth grade. Beganworking at that age in oil fields by driving wagon. Worked in oil fieldsmost of his life. Traveled around a great deal with his job. Lived inTexas, Illinois, Kentucky, and Michigan. Badly injured in automobileaccident in 1953 which took the life of wife, Opal. Kneecap removed whichcaused him to limp the rest of his life. Married #2 Olive Biehl, agirlhood friend of Opal's. Suffered from heart trouble and died of aheart attack while on the job drilling a water well. Obituary from Mt.Carmel Daily Republican-Register April 10, 1967 "George Brooks, 66,Allendale died suddenly Saturday morning. Surviving are his wife, Olive,two children, Nancy Jo Runta, Finley, Ohio; Bill R., Wayne, Michigan;four grandchildren, five brothers, Charles of Flat Rock, Ill, Earl of SanAngelo, Texas, Knoles of Ellenborough, West Virginia, Hobert ofBridgeport, West Virginia and Delbert of Montana. Funeral services willbe held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from the King and Ingram Funeral Home inAllendale with the Rev. Grant Cummins officiating. Burial will be inStandish, Michigan. Friends may call at the funeral home."
