Notes - James William (Winston) Montgomery, 12/23/1827 to 8/23/1911, could also be the son of James and Hannah Montgomery as the Census of 1840 listed a male 10-15 with them. Also in the Census of 1860, town of Kortright, listed a J. William Montgomery as 33 years old and married to a Mary E., 23 years old, which is the same as above dates of birth for James and same as wife listed as Mary E. Phelps Montgomery, born 2/22/1837 to 6/15/1915, and family which I found in the above cemetery (Roses Brook road, Town of Stamford). Also the Census of 1860 lists a domestic, Cornelia C. (E.) Phelps at 18 years. No doubt sister of wife, Mary e. There was a male, Ehert P., son as 11/12, no other roecord. The rest of the family is at this cemetery.
Again in Cenus of 1865 we find living with Samual B. Kerr, Augusta J. Montgomery (Gusty), daughter of James C. and Susan Keer Montgomery, James William (Wilson) and Mary E. Phelps Montgomery as age 36 and 26 rsp. with sons Charles P. (5) and Otis M. (11/12) same as Census of 1860. For sure part of this family.
